What to expect
Each page is scaled to fit and centred, so nothing is cut off. A page of a different shape gets even margins rather than losing an edge.
Scaling changes how large the text looks, not how sharp it is: the page stays text, not a picture.
It does not make the file smaller in megabytes. That is compression, which this site does not do yet.
To cut margins away instead of fitting the page to a sheet, use Crop PDF. To print several pages on one sheet, use Pages per sheet.

Can I convert a PDF to A4 for free?

Is my file uploaded?
No. The pages are redrawn inside your browser, on your device. Your PDF is never sent to us or anyone else.
Does the text get blurry?
No. The page is redrawn rather than turned into a picture, so text stays text: selectable, searchable and sharp at any zoom. Pictures inside the page are scaled like any picture.
Is anything cut off?
No. Each page is scaled to fit inside the new sheet and centred, so the whole page is always visible. When the shapes differ you get a little white space at the sides instead.
Why is my file a mixture of sizes?
It usually happens after merging files from different sources, or scanning on a machine set to a different paper size. The tool tells you how many sizes it found when you open the file.
Do links and form fields still work?
No, and this is the one real cost. Links, buttons and form fields belong to the page rather than to what is drawn on it, so they are left behind. If your file is a form to fill in, resize it before filling it, not after.
Why can’t I open my password-protected PDF?
Protected files are encrypted, so their pages can’t be read or redrawn. Remove the password first, then open the file again.
